| The development of the Velveteen Lop is primarily from the crossing of English Lops and Mini Rex. The ideal Velveteen Lop is a miniature version of the English Lop's mandolin body type with length of ears to balance, along with the Rex coat of fur. This medium-small breed weighs roughly around 5-6 pounds and will have a minimum of 14" ears when measured from tip to tip. Both breeds' fabulous personalities come out through this crossing. This new breed first made it's appearance for presentation in 1999 and has been struggling for acceptance as a recognized breed every year since. |

| MY THOUGHTS Wonderful, energetic personalities and small size will make this breed of rabbit in high demand once the word is spread about this "little secret" or they are actually seen in person. As with the Mini Rex, the Velveteen Lop has a narrow foot with thin furring which can cause sores on their feet if not properly caged on a solid flooring or wire with foot pads/sitting boards. |
