| The first Mini Lop was known as the Kleine Widder and seen in 1972 at the German National Rabbit show held in Germany. Then, they were a cross of the German Big Lop and Chinchilla rabbit, bred in 2 colors, agouti and white. In 1981, the name was changed to Mini Lop and was accepted into the ARBA. Mini Lops aren't just a small French Lop, but a result of crossbreeding French Lops, Chinchilla and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. Mini Lops are the perfect answer to a pet that isn't too small, nor too big. The Mini Lop, despite it's "mini" name, is not the smallest of the Lops. |

| MY THOUGHTS Mini Lops can certainly be the perfect choice of Lop rabbit for a pet. Not too small, not too big...just right. Just right for small kids to handle and carry. Just the right size to tolerate handling or even mishandling without affecting their personality. Just right for not too big of cage. Not too small to hide under furniture or get caught in places that you can't get to them at. I personally have not found a fault in owning Mini Lops. I have not experienced any special health precautions nor special housing or feeding requirements. If you are looking for the ultimate low maintenance rabbit, why not consider bringing home a Mini Lop?? |
